The Story:
Romeo & Juliet takes place in Italy in the late 1500's.   Two families, the Capulets and Montagues hate each other and have been fighting for many, many years.

Romeo and Juliet are schoolmates who fall in love during math class.   When their parents, Lady Capulet and Sir Montague discover that Romeo and Juliet are in love, they are forbidden from seeing each other.   Of course Romeo and Juliet are deeply upset.

Paris is also a schoolmate of Romeo and Juliet.   He wants to marry Juliet but Juliet loves Romeo and dislikes Paris.   Unfortunately, Lady Capulet is very fond of Paris and arranges for Juliet to marry him.   They are to be wed by Friar Johnson.
